Greetings,
I am Kathleen Thicke, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to facilitating transformative journeys at the San Fernando Valley Counseling Center. Having earned my undergraduate degree at UCLA and a Master of Science in Counseling Marriage and Family Therapy from CSUN, I bring a rich practical and educational background to my practice.
My passion lies in helping clients navigate various challenges, be it recovering from loss or relationship issues, managing anxiety, overcoming depression, or addressing conditions like OCD and ADHD. I am committed to fostering a supportive and empowering therapeutic environment where individuals can set and achieve meaningful goals.
Our time together is not just about addressing concerns; it's about fostering a productive, meaningful, and a sometimes even enjoyable therapeutic experience. I look forward to embarking on this journey of self-discovery and growth with you.
My Approach
In the initial stages of our therapeutic journey, we will collaboratively set goals and determine the most suitable approach tailored to your unique needs. My foundation rests on a Rogerian Client-Centered approach, which places a strong emphasis on empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine understanding. However, I believe in the importance of integrating diverse therapeutic modalities to ensure a comprehensive and effective treatment plan. Psycho-education equips you with valuable insights into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, fostering self-awareness and empowerment. Additionally, I draw upon Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to explore and modify unhelpful thought patterns, promoting positive change. Recognizing the interconnectedness of individuals within their family systems, I also incorporate Family Systems approaches to address relational dynamics and enhance overall well-being. This eclectic and collaborative approach aims to provide you with a personalized and holistic therapeutic experience.
